R.C. Sproul on the Source of Scripture

This year is the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Chicago Statement of Biblical Inerrancy. One of the people who signed it was RC Sproul. In his apologetic book titled Defending Your Faith he writes about the source of Scripture. It says on page 175:

“The great and almighty God, Creator of the universe, is the source of these sacred writings. Granted he used human authors. Granted those human authors retain their own nuances and idiosyncrasies. But the spiritual father of young Timothy exhorted him to cling fast to the Scriptures and to remember their source: God himself has revealed himself in the words of man. The claim Paul makes here is not so much that the Bible is inspired (“breathed-in,” by divine superintendence) but that it is “expired” (“breathed out” from God). It is a claim of the Bible’s source and therefore of the basis or ground of its authority. “
