Hi! I’m Kyle. I serve as a youth pastor near Youngstown, Ohio! I am blessed to be able to give my life to help students know Jesus and equip them to follow him for their whole lives. It is my desire to see students grow in Christ and then go and serve Christ..
How did I become a youth pastor? I had no intentions of being a youth pastor when I was finishing my undergraduate studies as a business major at Millersville University. Instead I had every intention of graduating, going to seminary, and then becoming a pastor of a church. However, God had a different plan for me (and I am glad that He did). My last year of college at a secular university was difficult. I was attempting to be a light in the darkness while not succumbing to the godless worldview that was being taught to me. During my last semester I was especially challenged about what I believed. I was honestly afraid of becoming part of the statistics that we often read about students falling away from Jesus while at college. God was gracious to me and saw me through this difficult time in my life. It was then, during one of the most difficult seasons of my life, that I asked some friends of mine to pray that God would direct me as I was trying to figure out my next steps in life. I told them that I would give my life to help prepare students to thrive in college instead of just survive. At the same time I said I did not want to be a youth pastor! Well, thankfully God knows better than me and he opened up an opportunity for me to intern at a church with the focus of helping guide a youth ministry that had just lost their youth pastor. In God’s gracious provision a few months later I became their full time youth pastor and God started me on this journey!
Where do I serve now? I serve as the pastor of student ministry at Old North Church in Canfield, Ohio. It is an amazing privilege to do student ministry among this church that values the Word of God, intentionally disciples people, and seeks opportunities to influence those in our community with the Good News of Jesus.
What is my educational background? I attended Millersville University in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and earned an undergraduate degree in business administration with a concentration in international business. During my time at Millersville I had the opportunity to help lead a campus ministry that functioned as a multi-generational church and student organization. A few months after graduating I began my seminary journey through the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. It has been a blessing to be able to learn, grow, and be challenged as I have been pursuing my masters of divinity degree. I graduated with my Masters of Divinity degree from SBTS in December of 2019.
What do I do for fun? I like to read, watch sports, and eat delicious food. My wife Jenna and I also enjoy running and walking together. We actually ran a half marathon together several years ago. I have completed three half marathons and one sprint triathlon. When I was in college I joined the ping pong club and during my senior year I competed in one table tennis tournament through the National Collegiate Table Tennis Association.
